work work work
so...have you ever been fired and no one told you?  I HAVE!!!

I ordered some takeout from Carrabba's last night...went to pick it up...then was told by one of the managers that I had been taken off of the schedule and that I didnt work there anymore...crazy, right?  I mean, a phone call would have at least been informative and the right thing to do...but oh well...that store didnt make hardly any money anyway, so I can find another tiny part time job to occupy myself in May and June until I hopefulyl start my new job as the Hawk-Martin-Moore Community Director...woo hoo

so im really really lazy...
so today, when I only had one class at 11, I slept through it....how lazy am I?

I woke up a little after 11, obviously not going to class...had lunch, watched some ER, set up for orchestra, watched more ER, drove Mitch to the downtown library, went to church, helped Mitch move his giant ass TV that he doesnt even watch (he should give it to me), watched more ER and ate dinner, then had rehearsal for THE MOVIE IM FILMING FRIDAY!!!!

that is right ladies and germs, I will be in a short film by someone in the film school here at SMU....he had a film shown at the AFI Film festival this year in Dallas...rock on...

so tomorrow I have no choir...have to set up for Wind Ensemble at 11:30 and then free until ped at 2, then I teach at 3, then checking my mail to see if something from Rachael is here!!!! and then slacking off per usual the rest of the night...new Office, Scrubs, October Road and such tomorrow....woo hoo for lazy....that's me...

so that is about all for today...yet again, nothing earth-shattering...

until next time children...

strange dream...

so last night I had a dream so strange that I don't think that I can tell anyone about it...ever...just freaks me out...

before that, I had the first rehearsal for Tender Land out in Richardson and it went pretty well...I don't actually have to show up at rehearsal anymore this week since they aren't staging act 2, which is the only one I am in...a very light job for a very easy $200...not too shabby...

Virginia was on my ass yesterday in my lesson...gave me an impossible aria to learn for next week...but I guess its one of those cycles where I get dumped on and given an impossible task, do it well, and then fall back into good graces...such is the world...

not really much else to report...no earth shattering events...no cataclysmic tragedies...just waiting for it all to happen, or not happen...

How f@*$ing long has it been?

ok...so this would be the first update since the end of last April, and here it is now technically April 2, 2007...so much shit has gone down, let me tell you!

first, I passed my Psych exam, and therefore graduated, and then moved to Dallas, TX back in August to start my masters at SMU...only about 5 weeks from being done with the first year, which is half of the program...had a really good first semester grade wise and also performing wise...I got an excellent review in the Dallas Morning News by their classical music critic Scott Cantrell on a performance I was a part of at the Dallas Museum of Art...performed there twice last semester...I also flew to Augusta, GA for that concert with the Augusta Choral Society in October and rocked the house...I might get invited back to do solos on their Christmas program this year...we will see...Back in February I was Guglielmo in SMU Opera's production of Mozart's Cosi fan tutte where I again rocked the house...and I am about to start my professional opera debut with the Living Opera in Garland, TX...we start rehearsals tomorrow night for Copland's The Tender Land set in the Depression...should be a ball...

Also, not to break bad news to my "wife" in Baton Rouge, but I am dating the most amazing girl...she is about to graduate from South Carolina and if I am really lucky, then she will be coming to SMU for grad school also, not for me, but because the program here is actually her favorite among all the programs she has looked at...and that would rock, because a long distance relationship with 1,000 miles between you sucks alot, but we are making it work...she came out here for Spring Break and I have to go back to SC in May for my little brother's high school graduation, so I will see her then and go to Greenville and meet her parents and also give her a graduation gift and such...I LOVE HER SO MUCH...

learning alot here studying with Virginia Dupuy and Hank Hammett as my vocal coach...sometimes getting a little confused by things, like lately, but we will get it sorted out and I will be even more amazing when it is all said and done...so after May, I will have at least one more year in Dallas, maybe 3 if I decide to stay and do and Artist Certificate to give myself time to hang out here and do shows and competitions, and also let my voice mature so that I will be 26 looking for an opera gig, and not 24...big difference there in the male voice...

well, I really should make that all for now, but I am gonna try to update this more regularly than once a year, so if there is anyone who happens to read this and gets excited about a new entry, there will be more, so check regularly...

until next time....

has it been that long?
It has been a long time since I updated this baby....so much has happened...

Well, I had my senior recital, and it totally kicked ass!!! I messed up some words on my last piece, but its French and I'm sure only like 3 people realized the mistake...but I kept going to, which is the important thing...should get the CD in the next day or so...give it a listen...bask in my awesomeness...

11 days until graduation as of right now...i have only one exam and it is tomorrow...psychology...even if i dont show up and dont take it and get a zero, I will still pass the class and graduate, so all the pressure is off I guess...no voice jury cause of the recital...bagpipe jury was fun...Porter gave me and F minus just to fuck with me...but it wouldnt be him unless he did something....

Porter has really done so much for me since I have been at PC. He has I guess mentored me in a sense, been my voice teacher, confidant, advisor, friend, and counsel...I still need to get a joke kind of gift, like maybe a picture of me in a nice frame or something...but I also got him a nice new baton from Mollard...with a gold handel and his name laser engraved on the shaft...i think its cool, and I think he will like it too...choral conducting is his life...

I am going to have a professional gig with the Augusta Choral Society on October 28. They are doing the Hadyn Mass in a Time of War and the Vaughan Williams Donna Nobis Pacem...I will be the featured baritone soloist for both...they are gonna pay all my expenses (flying me out from Dallas, hotel, food, etc.) and pay me....sweet gig...and I'll get to work with Porter again, cause he directs the group...his assistant director saw me do the BIG solo in the Finzi at the Christmas Show and HE wanted me...Porter doesnt use his students for fear of playing favorites, but it wasnt his idea, so im golden!

I leave here in a couple of days, and then come back next week for graduation, and I really cant beleive its finally here...not that I am trying to rush it or that im trying to stay, but I really love this place and im gonna miss PC and all the people here...i vividly remember my freshman year and now I am a week and a half away from my graduation and then only months away from moving across the country to Dallas,TX to start basically a new life...

at least I'll have a wife only 9 hours away in Baton Rouge....;)

I could say more, but I really need to try and do well on my only exam, cause if not, I'll really look like a slacker...and i dont want the word to get out on that yet...

until next time....i love my wife...

Johnny Cash!
so I can link myself to Johnny Cash...

my minister at my home church for 27 years knew Johnny Cash very well...

Johnny Cash starred in the movie, "Murder in Coweta County," and played the father of my minister, who was the sherrif in Coweta County, GA...my minister was the technical advisor on set dealing with the case at hand and how his father would do things and why, etc...

so my minister, Lamar Potts, and Johnny became friendly and knew each other fairly well...at the end of the shooting, Lamar gave Johnny his father's old service revolver...and Johnny gave Lamar a book of poetry that June Carter gave him when they were dating!!!

so I just found that out last night...but how frickin cool is that?!?!

had my 3rd audition this afternoon...UNC-G...went well..the people looked pleased when I was singing...and i am also no longer sick, so that would be more in my favor than when i was at SMU...

so i was at a gas station on the way back from NC and i went in to pee and thought i might buy some mentos, because i have recently developed a mentos addiction...and i finally found the box of all strawberry, so yay for me...but i also saw one of the rolls/tubes...of a single flavor....pink grapefruit....WHAT THE HELL?!?!

just thought that was worth mentioning...i leave for charlotte thursday night to stay at a hotel and fly out of charlotte at 7:30 in the morning...to Boston!!! i will get like 2 and half days in Boston...how f-ing cool is that?

well, thats all i guess....till next time...

been a while...currently trying to study for my psych test tomorrow, and then i have to do some counterpoint...what a lovely day...

Matt (room mate from fresh year) came to visit this weekend...had a good ol time too...went to greenville with him and chris on friday night for dinner and then to see Underworld: Evolution, which was fantastic...i think i got a woody from all the fabulous fight scenes...vampires killing lycans and so on...and then of course the sex scene with an AMAZING kate beckinsale...aaaahhhhh

came back here, did a bit o drinkin, watched Doom with The Rock...decent...played some video games...passed out...

basketball games on saturday, which we won, and then more movies, video games, and a little drinkin...

church today was actually really good...enjoyed the sermon and sang a duet with my buddy Chad...and it really went well I thought...well recieved too...then out to lunch with Chad and the other two colleges singers, Kelly and Luke from Furman....good lunch...hilarious stories....all around great time...

and since then, been reading psychology mumbo jumbo...woot woot...leave tomorrow afternoon for NC to get ready for my audition at UNC-G Tuesday at noon, and then Boston coming up this weekend...a whirlwind week for me...

i think thats all i should write now, as i should get back to studying so i can watch Charmed and 8 and Grey's Anatomy at 10, and then of course talk to Genny at 11...its how i conclude my nights

till next time...

so its been a few days since i updated...

i guess i should start with this past weekend in Dallas....SMU is a really good school...and the campus is BEAUTIFUL!!! there is so much old money (oil money) in that part of Dallas...it is ridiculous...Laura Bush's home church is next to the school and the school is in the top running for George W. Bush's presidential library....not that i really like Bush or anything, but that is still pretty cool

so the audition went pretty well I thought even though I woke up with all kinds of crap in my throat...i could barely make sound for the first hour i was awake...but 2 gallons of water later, i was doing well enough to sing...and i think I sang well, though they still only wanted two out of the four i was supposed to have ready...the french and then the mahler...maybe one day ill sing all the songs im supposed to at audition...

the lesson i had went well...not as exciting as the lesson i had at LSU, but still a good lesson, and I think i would do well if i studied with Dupuy at SMU....we shall see in time...

so saturday night my dad and i went to a restuarant called the Texas Land and Cattle Steakhouse...and damn was that a good steak...wood fire, not gas....WOOOeeeee!!!

after dinner, we went to an opera at SMU with a pit orchestra and cast of all graduate students...OH MY GOD...fucking amazing....professional quality all the way....its amazing what you can do with money and talent...amazing...

well, this week has been a little slow, but almost over for me..and my freshman room mate Matt is coming up for the weekend...yay!!!

next week i have UNC-G on tuesday and then Boston Conservatory on Saturday...my first of the big guns...to see where i really stand....hopefully it will at least be on my own two feet and not on my ass....but only time will tell

thats about all...good conversation last night with my favorite conversationalist (??)....yay for reconnecting with old friends.....old HOT friends!!!hehehe

until next time,

so its Wednesday night, and I leave tomorrow for another whirl-wind trip to grad school to audition...

well, i got a call from a teacher at SMU today asking if i wanted tickets to two performances that were going on this weekend...the first on friday night which was a partner performance of Mozart works with the Dallas Opera Orchestra...so I said, of course...the second was an opera on saturday night, and i said "hell yeah!"...it will give me a chance to see what kind of program i would be getting myself into there...

well, im singing the same 4 pieces at SMU as I was ready to sing at LSU...maybe ill sing all 4 of them this time...but we shall see...i also have a lesson with the teacher i talked to after the auditions are done on saturday...

so i had a good and interesting conversation with my dear friend Genny tonight...she said this, and i agree, that its so funny that after 5 years we talk everyday when we really didnt when we were in school together...but tonight i told her a story that i was making up as i went along...while i was watching a movie production of the pirates of penzance by gilbert and sullivan...just odd...but really fun too...but the story is on hold until i guess Sunday night when i am back here at school from my trip to Dallas....

she knows the story...and i guess she enjoyed reading it as much as i enjoyed writing it...it was fun to improvise like that...i havent done any improvising since theater stuff a few years ago...so it was fun...and a fun story i guess too...

well, tomorrow it might snow in the AM...im kinda thinkin that would rock if my 9 got cancelled, but i do have to drive home tomorrow evening...so if there is something, its gotta be totally gone by like 3 or 4....but if so, then bring it on!!!!

well i am looking forward to this trip to Dallas, and I get to go with my dad, which will be fun...and inexpensive for me...hehehe...

well, goodnight to all...especially Juju....and when I am in Dallas, i might try to call someone...and they should answer their cell phone when i am not able to be at a computer...so there....

until next time...
